Yoga Basics

Yoga is a wonderful form of exercise that rejuvenates and energizes as well as relaxes and renews the body and mind. This class is for beginner students who would like to learn the beauty and benefits of Yoga, as well as for seasoned practitioners looking to continue their practice. Each session teaches breathing techniques to begin the class, a flow of poses (asanas) to strengthen the body, and concludes with relaxation. Michelle works with her students to modify poses based upon individual needs and concerns, ensuring a safe and meaningful practice for all individuals. Please wear comfortable clothing and bring your own water bottle and Yoga mat. Come along and renew with Yoga Basics!

Prenatal Yoga

Nurture yourself and your growing baby through hatha yoga. Learn basic breathing techniques and yoga poses that are especially beneficial during pregnancy. Guided relaxation and visualization exercises encourage an open-minded, positive approach to pregnancy and birth.

Mom/Baby Yoga Camp

You did it! You have nurtured your baby through pregnancy and have given birth to a beautiful baby – congratulations!  Mom/Baby Yoga Camp provides an opportunity for you to regain strength and flexibility, to bond with your baby in an enjoyable activity and to make friends with other moms.

Restorative Yoga

Restorative yoga is a very slow, gentle, nurturing, and relaxing style of yoga.  The entire class is done lying on the floor while listening to soft, restful music and being guided through a meditation focused upon body awareness, breath, and themes which are intended to inspire the student.

Basic Foam Rolling

Here’s a new way to de-stress, prevent injuries and keep you flexible! Even if you stretch regularly, foam rolling can help break down adhesions, scar tissue and stretch fascial tissue that you just can’t get to with traditional stretching. In this class, you will learn various exercises and techniques to help you roll away leg issues, back problems, arm tension and even head and neck pain. Attendees should wear comfortable clothing that they can move in, and should be comfortable getting up and down from the floor.

You will need a foam roller for this class. Feel free to bring your own or you can purchase one through Bridges. Regular price is $22, but if you buy one in conjunction with class registration they are $17.

Advanced Foam Rolling -New!

In this class, you will learn how to get rolling and move beyond the basics of decreasing muscle stress and tension. You will experience movement that challenges core strength and balance, and targets strength and flexibility. You will also learn exercises that activate inner core muscles and help you to strengthen your body from the inside out. This class is intended for those that have taken the Basic Foam Rolling class or have had previous Pilates experience. Attendees should wear comfortable clothing that they can move in, and should be comfortable getting up and down from the floor.

Healthy Summer, Healthy You – the Healthy Weigh!

With Summer right around the corner, eating healthy with more fruits and veggies can get you the healthy body you are looking for! We’ll talk about some of the latest fad diets and help you come up with a realistic plan to lose your unwanted weight without sacrificing your health.

After class, you’ll have the opportunity to sign up for a mini consult with a registered dietitian. You’ll also be able to sign up for a BIA (Bioelectrical Impedence Analysis) to help determine your basal metabolic rate, your percentage of body fat and percentage of lean body weight. These are helpful tools for creating an eating plan and assuring you are losing fat and not healthy muscle.

Anxiety is an emotion – using relaxation and visualization meditations you can learn to be in control instead of it controlling you! Minimum of 8 participants.

Being a Perfectionist Isn’t Perfect – Perfectionism comes at a steep price when it causes you to beat yourself up, avoid risks, procrastinate or exhaust yourself meeting unnecessarily high expectations. Gain aware­ness of why and how you became a perfectionist and how you can begin to let go. Minimum of 8 participants.

Mind-Body Connection – What we think affects our body and what we feel affects our thoughts. Instead of feeling out of control of your thoughts or your body see how you can take back control and positively affect your health and happiness. Use energy work and your awareness to gain insight into what is going on with your physical body. Practice with visualizations and guided meditations to “see” and help heal what is out of balance in your body. Minimum of 8 participants.

T’ai Chi for Arthritis and Fall Prevention

This T’ai Chi form has been modified to meet the needs of people affected by arthritis as well as those trying to improve balance and prevent falls. The movements are slow, gentle, and safe. The benefits are increased flexibility, strength and balance. T’ai Chi can help relieve pain and reduce stress.
